My name is Doris Forsthuber, and I've been working in communication design for over three decades. But my first great love was painting, and it remains so to this day. Dodo Foss is my artist name and my alter ego.
Through Dodo Foss Studios, I now bring these two worlds together. We're more than just a commissioned painting service: we're a small team and a creative platform specializing in custom animal portraits.
Our paintings are personal and unique, yet they share a clear, distinctive visual language. As Creative Director, I develop this visual language and the distinctive character of our work. Every painting is handcrafted and one-of-a-kind, just like the animals we paint.
By my side: Laura, Sari, and Havva, with expertise in graphic design, project management, photography, social media, and, of course, painting. And right in the middle of it all is our Molly, the studio's furry favorite.
What unites us all? We love animals. And it's precisely this love that goes into every portrait we create.
Our portraits come in two sizes: 40 × 50 cm for €390 and 70 × 100 cm for €790. The frame is included in both prices.
Each portrait is hand-painted in acrylic / mixed media — the small format on classic brown cardboard, the large format on white cardboard.
Absolutely. We're happy to paint portraits of all kinds of pets — from fish and reptiles to birds and horses. Every animal is welcome.
Choose your format, upload reference photos, and pay securely via Stripe right in the order process. You'll get an order confirmation by email immediately, and we'll reach out if we have any questions about your pet.
Ideally, upload at least two clear, well-lit photos that clearly show your pet's head and face — from slightly different angles if possible. One photo is enough to get started, but more helps us capture your pet as accurately as possible. If we need an additional photo, we'll let you know by email.
Production time depends on the portrait and our current workload — as a rough guide, we aim for around two weeks. You'll get a more accurate estimate after we receive your order.
We stay in touch while your portrait is being created. On request, we're also happy to send progress photos before the finished piece leaves our studio.
All of our portraits are sold framed. The frame is already included in the listed price, so your artwork arrives ready to hang.
Yes — we ship free of charge within Austria, all 27 EU member states, and Switzerland. Shipping is handled automatically as part of checkout, at no extra cost.
